Description
Action View provides conventions and helpers for building web pages with the Rails framework. Prior to versions 8.1.2.1, 8.0.4.1, and 7.2.3.1, when a blank string is used as an HTML attribute name in Action View tag helpers, the attribute escaping is bypassed, producing malformed HTML. A carefully crafted attribute value could then be misinterpreted by the browser as a separate attribute name, possibly leading to XSS. Applications that allow users to specify custom HTML attributes are affected. Versions 8.1.2.1, 8.0.4.1, and 7.2.3.1 contain a patch.

  1. An issue was discovered in Ruby 4 before 4.0.5. A race condition leading to a use-after-free in the pthread-based getaddrinfo timeout handler (rb_getaddrinfo in ext/socket/raddrinfo.c) allows a remote attacker who can delay DNS responses near the user-specified timeout to crash a Ruby process that calls Addrinfo.getaddrinfo(..., timeout:) or Socket.tcp(..., resolv_timeout:).   2. ERB is a templating system for Ruby. Ruby 2.7.0 (before ERB 2.2.0 was published on rubygems.org) introduced an `@_init` instance variable guard in `ERB#result` and `ERB#run` to prevent code execution when an ERB object is reconstructed via `Marshal.load` (deserialization). However, three other public methods that also evaluate `@src` via `eval()` were not given the same guard: `ERB#def_method`, `ERB#def_module`, and `ERB#def_class`. An attacker who can trigger `Marshal.load` on untrusted data in a Ruby application that has `erb` loaded can use `ERB#def_module` (zero-arg, default parameters) as a code execution sink, bypassing the `@_init` protection entirely. ERB 4.0.3.1, 4.0.4.1, 6.0.1.1, and 6.0.4 patch the issue.•CVE-2026-41316
  3. zlib is a Ruby interface for the zlib compression/decompression library. Versions 3.0.0 and below, 3.1.0, 3.1.1, 3.2.0 and 3.2.1 contain a buffer overflow vulnerability in the Zlib::GzipReader. The zstream_buffer_ungets function prepends caller-provided bytes ahead of previously produced output but fails to guarantee the backing Ruby string has enough capacity before the memmove shifts the existing data. This can lead to memory corruption when the buffer length exceeds capacity. This issue has been fixed in versions 3.0.1, 3.1.2 and 3.2.3.•CVE-2026-27820
  4. Active Storage allows users to attach cloud and local files in Rails applications. Prior to versions 8.1.2.1, 8.0.4.1, and 7.2.3.1 Active Storage's proxy controller does not limit the number of byte ranges in an HTTP Range header. A request with thousands of small ranges causes disproportionate CPU usage compared to a normal request for the same file, possibly resulting in a DoS vulnerability. Versions 8.1.2.1, 8.0.4.1, and 7.2.3.1 contain a patch.•CVE-2026-33658

Prior to versions 8.1.2.1, 8.0.4.1, and 7.2.3.1, Active Storage's `DiskService#delete_prefixed` passes blob keys directly to `Dir.glob` without escaping glob metacharacters. If a blob key contains attacker-controlled input or custom-generated keys with glob metacharacters, it may be possible to delete unintended files from the storage directory.
